Tuesday's Bag of Tricks: Luke Perry Loves Beaver, PDX Pie-Off, HRC Garden Party and Some Random Hot Guy

ON THE LEVERAGE The tweets have been fast and furious ever since Luke Perry hit town to guest star in Leverage. The photo above of Mr. Perry was taken at a recent Portland Beavers game by what I assume is a Leverage writer named John Rogers and I found the photo at his tweet spot here. It's a very cute photo of Perry and one of his co-stars Aldis Hodge. As is the next one below I found that was taken near Floyd's Coffee where it seems every star in Leverage took their coffee break. This particular pic came from Petra Gregorova:

Speaking of Leverage stars, why isn't only now that I am finding out that Jeri Ryan, perhaps best known for her role as "Seven of Nine" on Star Trek: The Next Generation, had joined the cast as a replacement for Gina Bellman during her maternity break?

THAT'S GOOD PIE: My apologies for not posting what it was like to be a judge at the 2nd Annual Portland Pie-Off, but I'm just finally coming off my sugar high. Well gang, it was a wonderful day to dip our fingers into pie, a lot of pie (72 to be exact). The sky was bright blue, the sun was shining, and the location for the contest, NoPo's Peninsula Park, was perfect. Gawd, the way the light broke through the trees and danced across the pies was damn near God-sent and only made your mouth water even more for a taste of the good stuff. I, alongside my two fellow judges (there were 13 in total) Kaie Wellman (Eat Shop Portland) and Greg Abbott (Whiffies Fried Pie Cart), got a chance to judge two types of pie. The first was "custard." And the second was the odd-sounding (and even more odd-tasting) "mash-up." Surprisingly enough one of the mash-up's most unassuming (and hard to see as it was under a layer of frigid coolers) ended up being the big winner of the whole thing:
Alison Greco for Cucumber Honeydew White Chocolate Icebox Pie. It was as tasty as it was weird. For a full list of winners may I direct you here. And, oh, as for one of the Pie-Off Commissioners running for a state Senate seat? You go for it, Karol Collymore.

GAY GARDENS The Oregon chapter of the Human Rights Campaign invited friends and associates to the Southwest Portland home of Curtis Thompson for a fun, little garden party in support of LGBT rights. Attendees included Governor Barbara Roberts, Terry Bean and Secretary of State Kate Brown, who shared with party-goers her recent adventures inside The White House. Yes, that White House.

CAN YOU WHEEL IT? Just saw this dude downtown. Love the placement of his Che tattoo. Don't you?
