Byron Beck's Window

He's here. He's queer. He's used to it.

On The Radio: Taking to the Airwaves to Talk About Sam's "Situation"

On Thursday I'll be making appearances at noon on The Rick Emerson Show and my weekly 5 pm-ish stint on The Cort and Fat Boy Show.
Instead of my usual witty gay repartee I will be discussing the crappy situation of the day.
It's time to talk. And I hope, if you have a chance, you will listen in.

Well, we did manage to fit in some regular ol' witty gay repartee on the podcast...although we learned a lot more about Cort than we did you.

Thanks again, Byron. We got more than a few emails from listeners saying the light you shone on the subject, coming from your particular perspective, helped them come to a decision on this thing, and they wanted to thank you for it.

Thought you sounded great on both shows, your anger and pain is obvious, but you held it together and still got your point across. Very good sir.

I voted for Sam and continue to support Sam staying in office. I'd be lying to say I was highly disappointed in how this whole thing came down. When he shot back at the other man during the campaign, I was all kinds of proud of Sam Adams. It does "hurt" to know how it all went down.

That being said. We're all human. We all fuck up. This isn't like a Clinton sex lie. Sam wasn't under oath. Hell, he wasn't even at a debate or other public event. This lie happened at a rather mundane event (from what I remember). So, no laws broken. No legal reason to remove him.

Again, we all fuck up from time to time. Sam's lie falls into the "get out of jail free" card. This wasn't that big of a deal.

Sadly, I can't shake the feeling that Sam won't stay in office. Because he loves and cares for this city so very much. I fear the witch-hunt is gonna' keep building and building, that Sam won't be able to perform the cities business. I hope I am wrong, I truly do.

Portland needs a mayor with a vision and the stones to pull it off. I think Sam has both. (Unlike the previous Mayor).

I mean, hell, he survived years as Vera's right-hand man! :)

Anyway, sorry to ramble. Keep the fight sir!

Despite Rick's normal expanded thinking audience, there still exists some knee "jerk" folks. Have fun...

By the way: Congrats to Gus and MILK.
