SEAFOOD MAMA DADDIES: So the Ist anniversary party for Cafe Nell was nothing short of SPECTACULAR.
First off, there was sand. Lots of it. Like several tons of it, piled high in a parking lot next to the restaurant buried deep in the bowels of Northwest Portland. Then there was FREE drinks, as in open bar. OMG..soooo amazing. Then there was the beach balls, the several fire pits, and the incredible food...which by the way...was cooked by Cafe Nell's
half-naked chef, Andrew Garrett, the scantily clad former army dude who has the best legs and butt on any chef in Portland (okay maybe not as good as his former employer, Christopher Israel's, but they were pretty damn good). Owners
Van and Darren Creely went all out for this beach bacchanal—and it showed. It smelled good. It looked good. And, best of all, it tasted good. You can't beat shrimp, clams and a damn good piece of corn on the cob anyday. Better yet, it was all a benefit for Basic Rights Oregon. Northwest Portland has never felt sooo beachy.
